Every once in a while, we encounter a person and a place that you know – in that moment – something here is different, special and your senses and your being can feel it.  That is how I felt the first time and every time I drive down the lane to the Herb Crib.

The Herb Crib is a modern day version of the secret garden for me, thanks to the vision of Karin Rutishauser. I never tire of walking through the flower garden, seeing the butterflies, and hearing the music of nature. Knowing that her own bees pollenate these flowers make her delicious honey all the more sweeter.

The flowers and herbs aren’t just beautiful, but have purpose. The flowers and herbs from Karin’s organic wonderland provide her with materials to make her many products to keep us safe and healthy.  Her body products include lotions, soaps, face creams.  One of my favorite products helps to stop insect bites from itching including chiggers and other insects.  She` also has a variety of delicious culinary seasonings – herb blends, vinegars and oils. Karin is also very proud of her medicinal products such as jewelweed spray and many ointments and tinctures.

As you walk up toward the garden you will see the Herb Crib and wonder if you were just transported to someplace you might have imagined in the Alps, it’s that gorgeous.  This is where Karin sells her products and you can leisurely browse, breathe in the fragrances and let your eyes take in the wonder of it all.

Karin’s heart and soul is evident in everything she touches. The love and care she brings to her products, the land she nourishes and the plants she makes available for us to bring home to start our own gardens shows her dedication to creating natural herbal products.
